Back in March 2016, Joe and Mary found themselves in line at the crack of dawn—4 am to be exact. After six hours of patiently waiting, they finally clinched their order for a new Tesla Model 3 – a car they had neither seen nor driven! Fast forward through a long 28 months, 10 days, and 4 hours, they finally received word that their order had arrived in Minnesota. At last, the long-awaited day was here! Buzzing with excitement, they were 30th in line to pick up their eagerly awaited treasure: the first ever long-range, all-wheel drive Model 3 Tesla. Finally, it was theirs—the wait had been absolutely worth it.

This experience taught them that patience truly pays off when you’re anticipating something truly incredible!

Committing to a Shared Vision

Joe and Mary’s virtue of patience was further established in late 2021 when they decided to build a brand-new home. Their ambitious goal? To build not just a house, but a forever home – a home as environmentally correct as possible.

Committed to a sustainable future, Joe and Mary knew they wanted Tesla Solar shingles for their new home. Their big dreams and grand vision left them uncertain about where to start or who could help with their renewable energy needs. Upon discovering that Greenway Solar had become a Certified Tesla installer in Minnesota, they reached out to us immediately. Though they lacked a building site or home design, our conversations with Joe and Mary revealed their passion for sustainability. Inspired by their vision, Greenway was thrilled to join their journey and agreed to be their Tesla Solar Roof installer for their future home.

Expertise & Teamwork

Tesla typically requires that their solar shingles cover all roof surfaces. Joe and Mary’s home, designed with a steep 10/12 pitch (40 degrees) for optimal solar production and snow shedding, presented a unique challenge - their home required shingles only on the south facing roof. Greenway’s designer submitted an architectural mockup to Tesla showing how this could be accomplished – and Tesla agreed to the plan!

In late fall of 2022, Greenway Solar successfully installed Joe and Mary’s Tesla Solar Roof shingles, along with a SPAN smart electric panel and a Powerwall backup battery. Their system was fully operational by mid-February 2023.
